VASmalltalk – IC Memory Usage

When starting a basic IC oriented Seaside server application, you can expect to have a memory usage of 13 MB (remember: IC is NOT a reduced image).

When starting additional Seaside server applications of the same type you can hope, that shared memory will be used – but this does not always work.

One get sometimes log messages like:

allocateUniqueSegment: no segmentId 0x00000008 timeStamp 0xd09cb572 type 0x00030005
allocateUniqueSegment: no segmentId 0x00000008 timeStamp 0xd09cb79e type 0x00030005
allocateUniqueSegment: no segmentId 0x00000008 timeStamp 0xd09cb7d8 type 0x00030005

or

Failed to place FIXED memory at required address; creating PRIVATE

and sometimes the runtimes need suddenly 17MB. When starting 7 images I had 5 with around 13MB runtime usage and 2 with 20.5 MB.
